Bonus Content: Some Answers to Questions

Did you have a nice Easter? Were you invited anywhere for Easter Dinner?

We went to eat with the Cranneys. We had a very Easter dinner of empanadas, funeral potatoes, and carrots. With cookies for dessert. Basically Easter is not a big thing here. hahah

Tell me about your branch. Why do you have to teach Relief Society every week?

Our branch is basically disfunctional. The ward barely has enough priesthood to have a president. hah! I didnt teach relief society for the first time in three months this week! The president was called and sustained last week. She will be the first active relief society president in over a year.

What are you most excited about conference weekend?

Conference!!!! I am ready to finish the book of mormon just in time for the conference! Were actually going to watch it in Horqueta. I´m just stoked for whatever new news they have for us.

What are the favorite hymns sung there?

I stand all amazed, oid el toquin de clarin, and yeah.. thats about it.

We´re going to the temple today so we´re short on time.

The Foot-Long Milipede and Other Scary Stories

Heeeyyyy all of you people!
This week was another rough one but so many funny-ish things happened hahahah.
So I wanted to tell you all about a few members that I really love so much. The first one is a teenage girl named Mariela. She is so wonderful. She is a real fighter, and she really struggles with family problems. But she reads A LOT and she knows a lot of things. This week she pulled along her 5 year old brother to an activity in the church and told me shes ready to come back to church. I was proud of her for deciding to reactivate herself.
The second is a single mom named Gloria. She has literally nothing, she works day to day to pay for herself and her baby. And when we visited her she stopped the lesson and said, WAIT! And she pulled out a little gold necklace with a pendant. And she gave it to my companion and said, 'I wanted you to have this. Hermana Scott has a chain and now you do too.' My companion cried. So awesome.
The third is a little old lady named Hermana Pastora. She didnt know how old she was so we calculated it for her and shes 78! And she is about as tall as my ribs hahahah shes so cute! This week we didn't teach a lesson, we just brought a book of paintings of Jesus and she looked at every single one and she couldnt stop. She said she felt at home looking at the paintings because He looks friendly hahah. She is a special member.
Other things that happened this week:
- there was a foot long, gigantic, snakesized milipede in our house. Our bishop killed it with a block of wood.
- everybodys killing their pigs for semana santa. in the house of one of the members was a lord of the flies style pig head. GROSS
And there's your update from Paraguay! Killin it out here. hahah thank you so much for your prayers. You don't know how much they help. Ojo de la fe!!!! I love you and I'm workin hard!

Sharper than a Double Edge Sword

Heyyyyy all you people who speak english and stuff,

Hows your lives? My life is about the same. We had cambios but me and Hermana Martinez are still together in Horqueta yaaaay BUT we got Elderes... awwwhh.... So our area got split in two and they got all our investigators so now we have to find new ones yaaay BUT all we found were Jehovah's Witnesses and Evangelist preachers... awhhhhh....

Literally I have never been so enganar-ed in my vida. We thought this guy was a contact of gold! He was married, had a great family, was reading the Bible, spoke English! But then he turned into Korihor and was using all these scriptures from the Bible to tell us that we are false prophets and the Bible says you don't have to be baptized to be saved. And we were just like, WHOA hold on what happened here?! It got really funny when he said, "I know that this information is like a sword in your hearts, and it HURTS, because you know that what you are doing is not true." And me and Hermana Martinez looked at each other and we're like... uhh.... nope.... we're good! hahahahahha whoops #truechurch

So then he told us to kneel and pray to know if our church is true when we went home. So we did. And guess what? Its true. The Spirit was really direct with me. I saw kind of like a slideshow in my head of all the times I've known without doubt that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints is the true church, and then the Spirit was like, "Are you going to doubt it now?" Which was kind of like dropping the cane but it was in a good way. It gave me animo to keep preaching the gospel.

I don't know why I'm telling this story. But there you go! Update of the week! The Church is true! Something I finally learned after 7 months on the mission hahahah oh jeez.... The Lord calls us in weakness!

ALSO! Very important news! It is cold here in the mornings!!! I am wearing fuzzy socks and making pancakes to help me! So its probably like 70 degrees in the morning.

So to all of you who maybe are doubting this week, remember to doubt your doubts before you doubt your faith! Hold on, hang in there! There is help and happiness ahead. And light. And the world says a lot of convincing things, but if you think about it, and if you ask, God loves us enough to remind us of the things we already know.

I love all of you! Fuerza, fuerza, fuerza!

Capacitacion y Concepcion

Dear yall

This week we basically lived in Concepcion. We had meetings and conferences and meetings and interviews and conferences and today we have an activity so Im reporting to you live from Concepcion. Concepcion is about an hour from Horqueta so weve had a grand old time sleeping on the collectivo and in the back of the Cranneys truck.

This week I have great news! We found a family, the Familia Nocera! We were originally teaching the wife, but she started to lose interest until one day we passed when she was with her esposo... And her esposo was really really interested and read three chapters of the book of mormon and declared that it was ¨identical to the bible and therefore must be true¨ hahahah oookaay so weve been teaching them and we feel the spirit really strong in their house. We always end their lessons with a prayer of knees..... kneeling prayer alli esta and its really beautiful. The men here arent always.... interested in the gospel or in anything actually so its been cool to see a dad who acts like a dad. I joke with Hermana Martinez that we are teaching the next branch president.

Speaking of the branch president, it rained every day this week. I think it wastuesday that the water came up to our knees in the streets and we just walked through it like come at me bro rain doesnt stop the missionaries of the Lord! Hhahahha all the people stop and stare at us. I would stare too I guess. :D

uhhhhhhhhhhhhh I have no funny stories this week. Weve been talking a lot about the Atonement. It literally was the only way to put us in a completely free state. Where we are free to choose exactly what we want -- liberty and eternal life or captivity and death. Seems pretty obvious when you put it that way, I always thought--- but the nature of the thing is that Jesus Christ can make the conditions of the grace of the Atonement anything He wants which is why its SO important to repent!!! SO IMPORTANT. IMPORTANTISIMO. Jesus loves us so so much and only wants whats best for us.

Well I love all of you, enjoy your leap year and almost spring! Its getting chilly here, we sleep without the air conditioning on now. :]
